“My son (8 years old at the time) and I signed up with Team Rhino a year ago. I chose Team Rhino because of its reputation as a being not only one of the best Jiu-Jitsu schools in Idaho, but understood it to be less about competition and more about self-defense.
Both my son and I LOVE it. Safety is always their top priority. Professor Owen is an amazing teacher, along with his other black belts.
Team Rhino is teaching my son some key elements to success. Patients, respect, strategy, focus, flexibility in his thinking and decision making on the fly, etc. All things that will apply later on in life.
Can’t say enough good things about Team Rhino!”

“Our boys (ages 9 & 6) have been part of the Team Rhino family for two years. In that time, we have seen amazing improvements in their ability to focus in class as well as at home and in school. Their self-confidence has grown as they learn how to handle their bodies better, as well as learn what to do if a bullying situation should arise. We love to see their pride as they work hard in class and reach the goals they set for their next belt level. The coaches clearly love teaching jiu-jitsu and do an excellent job of mixing fun and technique in every class. In addition to the physical benefits of the class, I also love that they emphasize values such as honesty and respect each day. The importance of eye contact, a positive attitude and being a good partner are just as important as how good at a technique they are. We have come to see jiu-jitsu as an investment in the character development of our boys as well as a fun physical outlet for them. We have been very happy with Team Rhino and would highly recommend them to parents of both boys and girls!!”
“Our son has been a student at Team Rhino since he was 5 years old. He started in the karate program and after attaining his black belt, we moved him into the jiu-jitsu program. If you are interested in a school that will give your child confidence and teach them the self-defense skills in the true tradition of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, this is the only school to consider. We would never take our son anywhere else.”

“Father’s can’t always be there to protect their daughters, we want to, but we can’t. My wife and I wanted to give our daughter a gift that would last throughout her life. I grew up doing Taekwondo from 4 years old – it taught me confidence, discipline, respect, and self-defense. However, it wasn’t until later in life a friend of mine who is a Jiu-Jitsu instructor asked me to train with him one day that I realized how ineffective my Taekwondo skills were once things went to the ground. I am twice his size and I could not get him off of me.
Someday our daughter will face men who are larger and stronger and I am confident that by having trained in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from the age of four, she will be able to take care of him.
We looked at several martial art schools in the Boise and the Meridian area. When we met with the people at Team Rhino Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, we knew almost right away this would e a great place to learn and train. The owner, Keith Owen, is personally involved in all classes from the Lil Rhinos all the way through the adult class. He always has a warm engaging smile and makes everyone feel at home. All the Team Rhino Gracie Jiu-Jitsu instructors are friendly, knowledgeable and engaging- at Team Rhino they know everyone by name.
The studio is spotless and clean. Other students, bot old and young, hold the doors for each other, smile and converse. Team Rhino isn’t just a team of instructors and students, it is a family.
Mr. Owen and his team teach discipline, control, important words of the day and how it relates to our lives, honesty, respect, confidence and event starting at four years old Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu skills.
From day one our daughter was rolling on the mats and learning how to engage, go for the mount, defend and break free. She will be bully-proof.
Our daughter is always excited to go train with the Lil Rhinos BJJ program. Each class includes a group learning session, BJJ skills and techniques, grappling and a fun game designed to teach self control, motor skills, social skills, respect and more.
Our family highly recommends Team Rhino Gracie Jiu-Jitsu for anyone in the Boise, Meridian, Eagle and Kuna area.”

“Outstanding instruction, and outstanding students. Safety is paramount. Team Rhino is truly a team environment where everyone respects and takes care of each other, with the end goal of making everyone better, in Jiu Jitsu and in life. Egos are left at home, and new members are welcomed like they are family. You are never too old to start. BJJ will change your life, both mentally and physically. Let’s roll.”
“I’m a small business owner in Meridian and I began training at team rhino 3years ago. I wanted to learn BJJ since watching UFC2 when I was 13. I felt like my window to learn the martial art had passed since I was already in my late 30’s, however I came across a video narrated by Joe Rogan showing people, men and women in their 50’s and older trying it out and becoming hooked. I knew I wanted to try it out but didn’t know where to go. Oddly enough my brother, a certified strength and conditioning coach in COLORADO, said I had the good fortune-to live in the same town as one of the premier Bjj professors in the Pacific Northwest, I Professor Keith Owen ( yes I got a gym recommendation from a guy 900miles and 2 states away).
Professor Owen is one of the best all around teachers I’ve ever had for anything. His attention to detail is amazing. His gym is spotless and my teammates are not what you would expect. This is not an MMA gym, there is A very welcoming vibe and most of the people who train are a nice , humble bunch that will make you feel like family, but still are highly capable and technical when it comes to grappling.Jiu Jitsu didn’t save my life, it changed it into a life with living. From my perspective, though I might pay for classes , I could never repay Professor for the positive impact he and BJJ have made on my life. I’m Team Rhino for life.”
