Get to know your Instructors
In 1993, Keith Owen and his wife Shirlane opened their first martial arts academy in Twin Falls, Idaho.
Keith Owen, a respected Jiu-Jitsu figure, played a significant role in bringing Jiu-Jitsu to Idaho as one of the original studios to begin teaching this form of martial arts.
Under Master Pedro Sauer's guidance, Keith earned a 4th-degree Black Belt. Keith was known for his technical expertise & practical self-defense curriculum.
On February 11, 2022, Keith Owen unexpectedly passed away. Shirlane continues to lead the academy, supported by 20 exceptional instructors. Their commitment to Helio Gracie Jiu-Jitsu for self-defense remains steadfast. The programs prioritize providing students with practical skills,
preparing them for real-world situations.
Team Rhino opened their Meridian location in 2005 and has 20 Black Belts across the US and Canada, maintaining their 33-year affiliation with Master Pedro Sauer.
