No matter how old you are, Jiu-Jitsu has the power to create a lot of opportunities in your life. Both in training and beyond.
One of these opportunities is a chance to meet new people and make some new friends. Here are a few reasons why your Jiu-Jitsu training partners also make great friends.
1. Shared Interest
The Jiu-Jitsu community will introduce you to people who share your interests. And training Jiu-Jitsu gives you a chance to bond with others and form friendships over a shared interest. Students of all ages learn together. You figure out how to overcome obstacles and share those challenges with others who are going through a similar process.
2. Trust and Respect
Being able to roll with someone takes trust and mutual respect. There aren’t many activities like Jiu-Jitsu. Training provides a unique opportunity for you and your fellow students to learn valuable skills while building emotional control and keeping your ego in check. If you respect and can trust your training partners, chances are you can trust and respect them as a friend.
3. Diverse Group
In Jiu-Jitsu, you’ll experience a constant cycle of learning and teaching each other that builds a great community and strong friendships. Everyone can practice BJJ. Men, women, and kids of all ages (starting as young as age 4 in our Lil Rhinos program) and ability levels are welcome. Because there aren’t specific criteria to get started, you end up with a diverse group of students to train with. You never know who you might meet on the mats.
